PAINTINGS

Fromartz recalls having read of an archeologist who said that when he discovered a shard of an ancient pot, its curve suggested not only the complete piece of pottery but the civilization that produced it. With her paintings, Fromartz imagines a kind of dynamic continuum, a combination of geometric forms and gestural marks that extend beyond the confines of the canvas. She finds it exciting, sensual, and intellectually challenging to load a brush, draw, pour, and throw paint into a space that is open and expansive.
